Super Eagles defender, Efe Ambrose, has won the only Scottish domestic
trophy missing from his cabinet, when he starred for 90 minutes as
Celtic beat Dundee United 2-0 to lift the League Cup.
Ambrose has won the league and FA Cup in Scotland but the League Cup
was the only trophy he was yet to win in his two-year stay with the
Bhoys.
The Nigerian, who is back in favour after losing his spot at the start
of the season, partnered Virgil Van Dijk in central defence and together
they shut out Dundee for 90 minutes.
Celtic won courtesy of goals from Kris Commons and James Forrest, a win
aided by the sending off of Dundee United's Sean Dillon.
In a chat with SL10.ng after the game, Ambrose said he was delighted to
lift the trophy but urged his teammates to switch their focus to the
league.
"It is more like mission accomplished for me here to finally lift the
League Cup but that is just one trophy from a possible two this season,
so it's time we focus on defending our league crown," Ambrose told
SL10.ng.
When we sought to know if lifting the League Cup means he will be
seeking fresher challenge next year the former Kaduna United skipper
refused to commit himself.
"I'm happy at Celtic, my family are settled here and I don't think I'm
in the mood to discuss my future,I just want to focus on the joy of
lifting the League Cup." he added.
