Seattle Sounders manager Sigi Schmid has hailed his Nigerian import,
Obafemi Martins goal in his team's 3-0 victory over New England
Revolution in the 2015 Major League Soccer (MLS) season opener at
CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Sunday night.
The Nigeria international, Martins scored the second goal after Clint
Dempsey sent a pass to Tyrone Mears on the right flank of the midfield
and the Seattle defender, Tyrone sent a cross into the box for Martins,
who clearly out-jumped Revolution defender Andrew Farrell and headed the
ball past Bobby Shuttleworth from seven yards out to put Seattle
Sounders two goals up.
Sigi Schmid described Obafemi Martins goal as a fantastic header.
“Man, that was a fantastic header,'Sigi Schmid begins.
"He's got the biggest thighs and quads on the team. He can definitely
jump. He doesn’t play like a guy whose size that’s listed. He is so
athletic and his ability to get up in the air is fantastic, it wasn’t
like it was a running jump – that was straight up, so it was pretty
impressive.” Sigi Schmid stated.
