FA Cup Quarterfinal
Result: Liverpool 0-0 Blackburn Rovers
Date: 08 March 2015
Venue: Anfield
Liverpool will have to travel to Blackburn Rovers for a replay after
they drew 0-0 at Anfield in the FA Cup Quarterfinal on Sunday evening.
The game got off to negative start for Liverpool, as defender Martin
Skrtel had to be stretchered off after a collision with Gestede, which a
prompted a lengthy brake in play.
The game sprung into life after the 20-minute mark and Rovers nearly
went ahead as Glen Johnson's ended up just wide of his net.
The visitors continued to pile on the pressure and were presented with
another opportunity in the 31st minute but Craig Conway blasted over
from the edge of the area.
Liverpool's first meaningful chance of the game arrived just before the
halftime break, as Daniel Sturride made his way into the box before
forcing Simon Eastwood into a fine save.
Simon Mignolet came to Liverpool's rescue shortly after the half time
break, as he pulled off a fine save to keep out Alex Baptiste's header.
Liverpool should have been ahead in the 59th minute but Kolo Toure
could only turn Jordan Henderson's cross onto the upright from six-yards
out.
That's as good as it with regards to chances of the game, despite the
introduction Mario Balotelli in the second half, who did look lively on a
couple of occasions.
The Championship outfit managed to see out the rest of the game and claim a precious replay at Ewood Park.
