A former Manchester United scout has insisted that Red Devils’
new £18 million target, Memphis Depay, is better than Cristiano Ronaldo
at his age.
Ed van Stijn believes the Dutch and PSV starlet has more to offer than Ronaldo did in his early days at Old Trafford.
“If you compare him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, then
Depay has more strings to his bow. I like him better,” he told Dailystar.
"Ronaldo made many of the same mistakes at Manchester United as he did when he was 17."
Depay has scored 22 goals in 32 games for PSV in all competitions this
season and was one of the young stars during the Dutch World Cup
campaign.
"You can't judge Depay on his technique,” van Stijn added.
"With him you look at what he’s doing with that technique to utilise it as much as possible.
"For example, look how often he makes sure he finds himself in one-on-ones facing the goal. It all comes down to details.”
Depay has been linked with a move to Manchester United, while Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly also interested in the player.
