Embattled President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick says they are still waiting for a response from Stephen Keshi after a contract proposal was sent to him.
Pinnick has also implied that they may have to make a decision if they don’t hear from Keshi on time.
“We have offered him the contract proposal and it is now left for him to get back to us,” he told Hot FM.
“We hope we can get a response from him soon or we make a decision,” he said.
Also reacting to several reports which has described their proposal to Keshi as a ‘slave contract’, Pinnick says their offer meets international best practices and had to go through several departments before it was finalized.
“These things you see are not easy because it had to go through several departments to meet international best practices.
“We just have to wait to get his response so that we can move forward.”
Meanwhile, Keshi’s agent, Emmanuel Ado has said that their lawyer is still studying the terms of the contract proposal.
“The lawyer is studying the contract terms. It’s a draft, it’s an offer and this is not the first time we are talking with the NFF and I don’t think it will be any different from what has happened the first time he came,” he said.
The Nigeria Football Federation has proposed that Keshi remains on the N5m monthly salary he earned in his previous contract, among several other clauses.
