Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has put blame on his front-three,
Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema & Gareth Bale, following the team’s
poor display on Saturday.
The Italian manager said that his front three, who have lacked
effectiveness in previous weeks, were ineffective for the side, and
disorganised while going forward, which he feels is the main reason why
his team failed to score against Athletic Club.
“We're lacking a bit of effectiveness up front. There's no linking up,” he told Marca.
“We played too individually when we needed other kinds of solutions.
“What we're doing when we attack at the moment is rather disorganised.”
The former Chelsea manager admitted that it’s strange to say that Los
Blancos are struggling up front with their usually potent trio, but says
it’s the unfortunate truth behind their most recent poor attacking
performance – saying that there was no decisiveness.
“It's strange to say that Real Madrid have problems up front, when
we've scored so many goals, but I think it's the truth,” he added.
“We played sluggishly, taking too many touches.”
Real Madrid lost top spot in La Liga as rivals Barcelona overtook them
by one point, following their thumping 6-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano.
Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale have been quiet in recent weeks, but have still got 53 league goals between them this season.
